Shed Seven are set to release ‘Stand Together’ on 2nd July via Cooking Vinyl. It will be the lead single from their upcoming self-titled studio album, due for release on 7th January 2027.
On their previous two albums, they’ve showcased more mature songwriting than on their original. Melody reigned supreme for the most part; it gave them the freedom to write great tunes. Stand Together is different. The edge of ‘Change Giver’ and the freedom of ‘Maximum High’ have forged a path with their wiser outlook on life.
The results? Devastating brilliance!
The confidence and confrontational style of ‘Sympathy for the Devil’ merge with soul-cum-psyche power of John Squire circa ‘Second Coming’ and ‘Do It Yourself ’, causing seismic eruptions.
Frontman Rick Witter is cutting through it with the emotional hook. He counters the debauched majesty swelling around him with a defiant sense of humanity. With the Prime Minister set to change hands, their timing couldn’t be more apt!
As Witter snarls:
“I’ve been taking pictures in the pouring rain / shouting from the rooftops, do you feel the same? / I’ve been taking cover from the burning flame / I wanna hear you say, the best is on it’s way / stand together”
This career-best lyric is a humble reminder to the fallen: it doesn’t have to be this way. Better still, its firm-handed approach reminds the grifters to sit the fuck down; you’re done!
If there was a blueprint for a comeback single, then this should be it. Huge sound, humane message. Roll on January!
