The Muso Awards Preview

A preview of 2026’s Muso Awards at Camden’s Electric Ballroom.

Tonight marks the second Muso Awards at Camden’s iconic Electric Ballroom. All the awards are voted for by bands, artists, writers, photographers, and DJs from the UK’s underground indie scene.

Last year, Pete Doherty and Kyle Falconer graced the stage, duetting Libertines and The View classics, reigniting those halcyon days of the early 00s at Filthy McNastys.

Let’s check out the seven bands who play tonight:

Spangled

Manchester’s Spangled can flip from playful to poignant in an instant. Guttural, poetic, and vital, their tales traverse psyche to punk to indie, often at once. A band so ready to step into people’s lives. Watching it unfold feels like a privilege.

Megan Wyn

A divine talent! Gutsy songwriting and mesmerising vocals evoking Linda Ronstadt at her peak.

Sweet Unrest

Basslines that tear into your soul are met with vocals that stray from Graham Coxon to Craig Nicholls (The Vines).

A.R.T

Formed in 2018 by frontman Alfie Clayton (ex-Skinner Brothers), their tunes have the rabid intensity of the recent post-punk boom but the guile and funk of Talking Heads, setting them apart.

Amity

The next great vocalist from South London. Pin-drop moment after pin-drop moment emanates from their illustrious singles.

Brits and Pieces 4 – Dirty Blonde

We review Manchester band Dirty Blonde on the Brits and Pieces 4 Compilation.

The exceptional Brits and Pieces compilation album has triumphantly returned for its fourth instalment, with Nick Brine's mastering touches (Oasis, Ash, and Stone Roses) gracing the album once again.

Put together by Marc Rossiter of @britspieces X fame as a labour of love; all profit is split equally between the artists. Rossiter's generosity is laudable in an age of diminishing returns for artists.

This week, we will be diving into our top 5 tracks. Next up are Manchester’s heavy hitters Dirty Blonde with their track ‘Run (When I Tell You)’.

Run (When I Tell You)

Filthy. Utterly is filthy. The Royal Blood via BRMC riffs emerge from the gutter drenched in sweat and oozing liquor! Ailis Mackay’s vocal eloquently negates the glam-stomping guitars to land the compilation’s finest juxtaposition.
