Picking up where they left off, ‘Off The Cuff’ is another blistering rock ‘n roll number. Frontman Shaun Kenny continues his rise to stardom by spitting venom like a young Tom Meighan with the melodic instincts of Miles Kane.

His snarling attitude allows lead guitarist Mark Devlin to hiss through the verses before blowing a hole into the sun with his intoxicating solo. Devlin serves up the sound of a band of brothers fighting the world. They might not always win, but they’ll retire with better stories than you.

With every release Hazy Sundays are becoming a serious force to reckon with. Their swirling rock ‘n’ roll is besieged with debauchery and hysteria to revitalise the soul.

Hazy Sundays – Hear The Truth

Back in January, Glasgow’s Hazy Sundays blew everyone’s hangovers away with the boozy anthem ‘Lose Control’. The four-piece are back again with their new single ‘Hear The Truth’

Oasis’ ‘Columbia’, an afterthought to many due to their pantheon of monster hits. For die-hard fans though, its swirling psyche was peak Oasis. A theme that Kasabian pursued with interest on their classic debut album. Hazy Sundays are now throwing their hat into the mix on ‘Hear The Truth’.

Lead guitarist Mark Devlin has the powerful simplicity of Peter Buck’s ‘What’s The Frequency’, the early hiss of Noel’s Gibson, and Serge’s ability to loop psychedelic riffs merging effortlessly. Devlin’s playing is beset with excess and hedonism which lay the platform for frontman Shaun Kenny’s vocal to snarl through the hysteria.

Like ‘Columbia’, ‘Hear The Truth’ remains in a groove too slow to dance to. Nevertheless, like it’s predecessor, it possesses a danger that takes you to the edge of chaos in a mystical fashion.

Hazy Sundays – Losing Control

Glasgow four-piece Hazy Sundays kick off 2023 with their new single ‘Lose Control’. It follows last year’s anarchic ‘All You Ever Wanted’ and the volatile ‘Never Know’.

Where ‘the previous two singles were unrestrained animals spilling out into the late-night streets, sonically, ‘Lose Control’ feels like a few hours earlier into that night. The Kinks’ ‘Days’ acoustic guitars come out to play with the Libertines and Tribes on this boozy anthem.

The guitars are also blessed with Noel’s unifying hedonism of ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ and ‘Stay Young’ as they swagger and stray around a pub 6 pints deep. Mark Devlin’s solo lifts the woozy affair to the level of ‘The Mighty Quinn’ or ‘One For The Road’. Divine escapism!

The self-reflection of the lyrics tempers escapist sonic with a pause for thought and an arm around the shoulder. Couple this with frontman Shaun Kenny’s Tom Meighan meets Liam Gallagher vocal and you’re left with no doubt Hazy Sundays are going to do big things.
