In 2023, Megan Wyn announced herself as a serious player with a jaw-dropping set at Truck Festival. She followed this up with a string of heavy-hitting singles and, now back on the festival circuit, she looks set to continue her domination.
At Godney, it felt less like an announcement of future talent and more like the arrival of a seasoned pro. On her former single, ‘Are You Bored Yet?’ she made regret the most melodic it had ever sounded. The rise and fall in her harmonies were breathtaking.
On ‘Jealously’, she dedicated it a “dick” from her past, and then proceeded to deliver a mesmeric Pj Harvey meets Kim Gordon banger. If there’s a better ode to cutting loose dead wood, we’ve yet to witness it.
This weekend, Wyn continues her summer festival journey with Kendal Calling and Y Not Festival.
Megan Wyn – Familiar Faces

Where ‘You Don’t Get It’ charted a coming-of-age journey from an isolated and melancholic position, ‘Familiar Faces’ lands Wyn right into the heart of relationship woes that have yet to be fully overcome.
Everyone writes about troubled relationships. The key to people caring is integrity and Wyn has it spades here. There’s a sense that the creative process has been obsessed over as much as the pain from it’s jealous muse. The guttural snap delivery of “darling I’d do anything for you” lands you in the white heat of a relationship's destructive pattern. It’s devastating emotionally but creatively astonishing. It’s supplanted by the more gentle “all these years”, acting as reluctant acceptance that all the efforts have been in vain.
Two singles in and Wyn is defining her identity with a clarity many artists struggle to find until album number three. Little Blossoms via Gerry Cinnamon guitar flourishes sprinkle a shimmer over country-tinged-indie sonic. it elevates her identity with a clarity many struggle to find until album number three, let alone single number two.
Wyn has followed up on her debut single with yet another single-of-the-year contender. A supreme talent not to be missed!

Neev: The Nest, Truck Festival
Neev played Truck Festival after winning a competition. She left it, proving that few are her competition.
Scottish singer-songwriter Neev opened a miserable Saturday at Truck Festival in The Nest. Backed by a full band, could she warm the soul amid a torrential downpour?
The bulk of the set was taken from her debut album ‘Katherine’, released in April via Trapped Animal. ‘Will I Change You’s deeply personal lyrics would have jarred so early in the day had it not been for Neev’s eloquent and soothing vocals. Her ability to move from steely to empathetic showed glimpses of what a performer she could become alongside her esteemed writing.
On ‘Green’, the band chime in with achingly beautiful backing vocals and resounding guitars lighting up the sodden tent. Neev showcased a vocal power only matched that weekend by Megan Wyn. Her country-folk delectation strayed from the ethereal to a grunge-tinged howl giving her songs a mesmeric appeal on the small stage.
This appeal was doubled down on step closer ‘Flowers’. A rousing and spellbinding affair that should never leave her setlists. Neev played Truck Festival after winning a competition. She left it, proving that few are her competition.

‘You Don’t Get It’ charts Wyn’s journey from her hometown to the big lights of Manchester. Her opening gambit “City is lonely, it’s not what it seems” is tinged with the trepidation and isolation a big move comes with. Despite being just 18, she has the vocal skill to plunge the listener into a state of anxiety immediately.
Sam Fender and Andrew Cushin have been writing melancholic but euphoric singles in recent years. Wyn is threatening to eclipse them on this ode to herself that it’s ok to fall on a journey of self-discovery. The country-tinged guitars, PJ Harvey meets First Aid Kit vocal, and Quinn’s subtle production are set to become millions of teenagers' soundtracks through life’s biggest obstacles.
The self-doubt and subsequent reassurance of the chorus are beset with a tumbling melody that demands instant classic status. Each verse acts as a coming-of-age drama worthy of This Life, Skins, and Sex Education.
To possess such reflective wisdom at a young age is rare. To echo all the anguish, fear, and self-belief to overcome into a record is nothing short of astonishing, and so is Wyn!

Some singers have the vocal power to wow but often lack substance and vice versa. Not Wyn! She is blessed with the startling ability of Linda Ronstadt, the pop instincts of Stevie Knicks, and the lyrical fire of Laura Marling.
Wyn went beyond just singer-songwriter talent last week. The knowing and sniping looks during ‘Better of You’, the playfulness during her next release ‘You Don’t Get It’, and the supreme confidence during the set closer ‘Polaroid’ projected the whole package to an awe-struck audience.
We’ve seen many an act via This Feeling who are destined for bigger stages. Never have we seen a dead cert for the Pyramid Stage quite like Megan Wyn. Emily, Michael, over to you.
